Today’s painting was inspired by the lavender at Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm.
I want to share with you more about Los Poblanos lavender and their farming practices.
Water is an issue for farmers everywhere especially in New Mexico. Lavender is a low water use plant and thrives in New Mexico's arid environment.
Los Poblanos harvests their lavender for its essential oil, and it is extracted through a steam distillation process on the farm. The lavender and oils are used in their Farm Shop products, spa, and award-winning restaurant.
Lavender blooms mid-June -July and the guests at the Inn are encouraged to join the farmers in the field to help with the morning harvest. I think this would be great, imagine your hands smelling like lavender instead of onions lol!!
I love hidden gems and Los Poblanos is a must see when you visit New Mexico. I will be at the farm on Thursday and will share pictures. ♥
